Residents live in small groups where they can be involved, as much as they are able, in the comforting and familiar activities of daily life.

People come to Mount St. Mary Hospital for a variety of reasons and require different levels of care. Our “Home Life” model of care, groups people with similar care-needs together in a House, so their needs are more easily met.

Each upper floor of Mount St. Mary has four separate Houses, where 12 or 13 people with similar care-needs live. Our residents may have moderate or advanced dementia, multiple medical needs, complex behaviours or physical limitations – conditions that all require a high level of support.

Designed for living

Each area of Mount St. Mary has been designed with residents’ comfort and safety in mind; from the quiet of a private room or familiarity of a ‘House’ dining room, to community gathering places like our Chapel, Village Square and gardens.

Residents are able to take part in the house and community life of Mount St. Mary to whatever extent they prefer. Some people are more sociable, some more private. Our unique model of care allows everyone to make choices about how they live.
