Board of Directors

Each member of our Board of Directors brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the task of guiding the Foundation. If you are interested in contributing your time and energy by joining our Board or becoming a Foundation volunteer, please contact us.

  

Lisa Nye, Chair
Lisa is currently the owner of Pinpoint Consulting Inc, after a 28-year career with the Government of BC that included leadership and executive roles in the ministries of Mines and Petroleum Resources, Small Business, Technology and Economic Development, Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation, Community, Aboriginal and Women’s Services, Advanced Education, Training and Technology, Tourism, Labour and Health.

She played a key role in the development of the Transformative Change Accord and the Métis Nation Relationship Accord, and developed the first ever Tourism Business Plan. 

Lisa has an MA in Political Science and a BA in Political Science/French.  She has served as a volunteer on many community boards and committees, and is the 2007 recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal for Excellence in Public Service and the Order of the Sash from the Métis Nation British Columbia.

Deane Strongitharm, Vice-Chair
Deane is a principal associate with City Spaces Consulting Ltd. and principal of Strongitharm Consulting Ltd. His projects span urban and rural settings, specializing in mountain and marine tourism, land-use planning and project management. Previous career experience includes the public sector and other high profile businesses such as the Oak Bay Marina Group.

Deane's volunteer work experience includes: Director and Past President, Greater Victoria Hospital Foundation; Executive Member, Sport Fishing Institute of BC; Vice President, Council of Tourism Associations of BC; Director BC Cancer Foundation (Vancouver Island) Advisory Council; Past President, Victoria Heritage Foundation and; Past Director, University of Victoria Alumni.

Adrian Elbers, Treasurer
Adrian Elbers is a portfolio manager and investment advisor with the Elbers Investment Group of CIBC Wood Gundy.  He is a graduate of the University of Victoria Commerce program and he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Prior to joining CIBC, Adrian worked for over a decade as a distributor of financial products; initially to investment advisors across Western Canada and then to institutions in major global financial centers. 

Adrian’s volunteer work experience includes serving on the board of directors of St. Christopher’s Montessori School in Oak Bay.  Adrian is married and has two young daughters.  Outside his work, he enjoys participating in sports.

Mike Clermont

Mike is the owner of Russ Hays, The Bicycle Shop with stores in Victoria and Sidney; he has been a business owner since 1974.

Mike is a Director for the Rotary Club of West Shore, Vice-President of the Burnside Gorge Community Association and is Past President of Capital City Executive Association. Past volunteer efforts include Finance Chair for both St. Andrew’s Cathedral and St. Joseph’s the Worker Parish. Mike currently chairs the Sisters of St. Ann Legacy Fund Committee.

Nate Lampard
Nate Lampard is a business and real estate lawyer with Jawl & Bundon.  Nate received a Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University and Juris Doctor from the University of Hawaii.  He is admitted to the bar in Hawaii, Connecticut and British Columbia.  Before returning to Victoria in 2008, Nate practiced real estate, business, and construction law at leading law firms in Hawaii and Connecticut and held underwriting and legal positions in the insurance industry in New Jersey. 

Nate also serves on the board of directors of St. Christopher’s Montessori School in Oak Bay.

Diana Patterson
Diana retired from BMO Bank of Montreal after over 40 years of service. Diana was the Area Manager for Commercial Banking and Small Business on Vancouver Island.

Diana has been involved as the Chair for our Fountain of Hope (an Employee Charity Organization) in Victoria, and has also served on the Big Brothers Big Sisters Board. Diana has a passion for ensuring the elderly receive the care and attention they deserve in their twilight years, she has been on the Mount St. Mary Foundation board of directors since 2006.

Dave Lloyd

Dave is a Senior Wealth Advisor with ScotiaMcLeod. He specializes in the design and management of investment portfolios for families and business owners.  ScotiaMcLeod is the full service investment arm of Scotiabank and has been with ScotiaMcLeod since 1986.

Dave is a Director and shareholder of Almita Piling Inc., Canada’s leader in the design, fabrication and installation of screw piles.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Finance and minor in Accounting from Gonzaga University, WA. In 2002 Dave earned the designation; Canadian Investment Manager, CIM

Since 1988, Dave has been a member of the Synergy Network, an Edmonton business group where he held the positions of chairman, treasurer and speakers committee chairman. Dave has also held various positions with The United Way of Edmonton and Area’s Annual Fundraising Campaign.

Dave enjoys spending time with his family and a wide range of outdoor activities.

Ian M. McCracken

Ian and his wife Michele moved to Victoria in 1996 when Ian joined Bank of Montreal’s Private Banking group.  Ian has over 25 years experience in the investment and trust services area having also worked for national firms in Toronto and Vancouver.

Ian received his Bachelor of Arts degree from UBC, has completed the Investment Funds in Canada Course, The Canadian Securities Course, received his Certificate in Financial Planning from the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning and is a Certified Financial Planner, Financial Management Advisor (Canadian Securities Institute) and Certified Senior Advisor.

Ian’s knowledge in estate, tax and investment planning assists him in assembling the right team of professionals – both inside and outside Bank of Montreal - to provide BMO Harris clients the personalized solutions expected from Canada’s top ranked Private Bank. 

Ian is Past President of Big Brothers & Big Sisters Victoria and was Co-Chair of Canadian Association of Family Enterprise’s National Symposium.  Ian loves the west coast life, is an avid ocean kayak/outrigger canoe paddler and open water swimmer.  Ian and Michele love good food and wine, entertaining and can never spend too much time camping.

Yvette Wells

After starting her career in Ontario in 1985 with the provincial government, Yvette joined the British Columbia Public Sector in 1993, where she held a number of senior positions within the British Columbia Government.  This included significant work involving the establishment of best practices for public sector corporate governance.  Yvette also had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of unique public sector projects which allowed her to create and lead innovative approaches to managing government-owned assets. 

In 2008, Yvette joined IBM, where she led the public sector strategy and transformation practice.  Yvette has since been promoted to Associate Partner, Financial Services Sector and now leads a large Systems Integration project in the public sector.

Yvette has an undergraduate Honours Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters in Business Administration.  She lives in Victoria with her husband James and her daughter Ellice.
